Recommended sights to see:
- Take a dip at Gouverneur Beach. Head east from Gustavia through the residential area of Lurin. Follow the map to Gouverneur. One of the best beaches on St Barths with a pristine and tranquil setting. Home to one of the most lavish annual New Year’s parties in the world.
- Saline Beach. A favorite among many. A bit out of the way to get to. Once there, there is a good walk to access the beach. There are no amenities, restaurants or beach chairs. Bring your own towel and refreshment. Majestic beach with a natural backdrop.
- The wild natural setting of Toiny. Pull over and just relax for a good 20 minutes on the rocky beach as you watch in awe of the gorgeous natural beauty of the Caribbean. A serene and tranquil setting buffeted by cool tradewinds. Le Maison de Nureyev is located in this area.
- Head west towards Grand Cul de Sac. The beach at Grand Cul de Sac is a watersports mecca with plenty to do. Anchored by the Guanahani Hotel and Le Sereno. A good place to rent wave runners or be active.
- Pointe Milou (Middle Point) offers stunning vistas. Le Christopher Hotel is located at the base of this area. There is no beach but exceptional views.
- St Jean Beach. St Jean is exceptionally popular for travelers. The beach has pristine conditions anchored by the stunning Eden Rock hotel. World famous Nikki Beach club is located adjacent to Eden Rock hotel.
- St Jean Airport. Pull off to the side of the road that ascends up the hill. Wait a few minutes and marvel at the intrepid pilots landing at SBH. A grocery store is located in this area. There is a very good sandwich shop called Les Jardinieres at this plaza for a quick get up and go lunch.
- Continue heading west towards Flamands/Colombier. First head towards Flamands. Isle de France is one of the most magical hotels in the world and if you wish to have a decadent dining experience then enjoy lunch beachside at their restaurant Cabane d’Isle. Spa services are available as well but must be reserved well beforehand.
- Overlook at Colombier. Continue towards the most western point of the island. It means backtracking from Flamands until there is an intersection. Turn right towards Colombier and follow the main road until you are near the end and reach a road side stop at the western end of the island. Near the western end of the road will be an overlook that has incredible views and an identification of local uninhabited and naturally brilliant islands.
- Return to Gustavia for some window shopping and people watching. If you wish to shop then I would advise checking operating hours early in the day. Most stores close between 12 and 2PM on weekdays and are closed Saturday afternoons.
